An inspiring and emotional movie. Half-fictionalised biopic of Joy Mangano, the broke single mother of two whose invention of the self-wringing Miracle Mop helped make her a millionaire 50 times over.
Jennifer Lawrence is awesome. The first movie I ever saw her in was "The hunger games" If you need a reason to see this movie, see it for Jennifer Lawrence.
And then, there is the legendary De Niro. Funny and serious all at once. I specially love the part where he describes his ex wife as a gas leak.“like a gas leak: we don’t see you, we don’t smell you, but you’re killing us all silently” lol. And he meant it.
Bradley Cooper aka pretty boy killed it too.
I would love to leave it at the props but i did notice that the movie does kinda seem unreal. I'm not sure why i would say that, but its just that feeling you get at the end of a movie. Some movies make you forget they are fictions but "joy" is obviously fictious and by the end of the movie, the beginning was kinda lost to me. I had a bit of a hard time trying to create a real connection between the beginning and the end.
It was mostly centered on Lawrence. A good actress though she is, but it seemed like too much attention on one character.
A good movie.
