Plot Summary: Hong Kong detective Bennie Chan (Jackie Chan) has been tracking notorious crime boss Matador for over a decade, whom he believes to be Victor Wong (Winston Chao). When Bennie's late partner Yung's daughter Samantha (Fan Bingbing) gets into trouble with Wong's crime syndicate, Bennie must track down an American conman, Connor Watts (Johnny Knoxville), who gambles his way through Chinese casinos after being banned in America. However, Connor is kidnapped by a Russian kingpin to answer for cheating his daughter. Bennie races against the clock to bring Connor back from Russia to Hong Kong. Connor who has witnessed a murder in China is fearful for his life and hesitates, he nicks Bennie's passport and burns it. The unlikely pair is forced to take a scenic route and embark on a perilous adventure from the snowy mountains of Mongolia to the windswept dunes of the Gobi desert while both the Russian and Chinese mobsters are on their tail.
Chan has always been able to mix action with comedy and he out-does himself in this one. Even old age cannot hold him back.
In truth, the plot is quite familiar. Same "Rush hour" kinda of movie. Have you noticed that he is always a cop? And then someone he loves gets kidnapped by bad guys and he always has to team up with someone (good or bad guy) and then jumps through hoops and hurdles and eventually wins. Classic Jackie Chan movie. But how does one guy make a similar plot sell all the time? That is the magic of Chan. Only he can do that. Look at his counterparts that fight with strong faces and what my people call "agilima". With Chan, the movie does not even have to make sense. With him, there is always fun in nonsense.
Have you guys noticed that Chan is not a very emotional person? He tries to portray emotions but he's never really made anyone cry. There is this scene in the movie where he almost wells up, telling Bennie (Knoxville) about never knowing his parents. In as much as he tried, it wasn't very emotional.
The movie is centered on the adventures of Bennie (Chan) and Connor ( Knoxville). Knoxville too is as funny and seems about twice the energy of Chan. There is good chemistry between them, almost like a love story but not as much. They went from total strangers, trying to get away from each other to close partners in quite an applaudable way.
Their general silliness is underlined by some broadly jokey soundtrack choices, making the movie even more exciting.
A wonderful cinematography, production, dope directing. Nice movie.
Rating: 7 outta 10.

Like you said a typical Jackie Chan movie but he really never gets boring. The chemistry between him and Knoxville though.... At some point, I thought it was going to be broke back mountain. Comedy was superb though. Nice write-up
